Consultant

    Lauren holds a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Psychology and Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon completing her degree, Lauren worked for the North Carolina Office on Disability and Health and since that time has worked as a consultant in many areas related to health and wellness among people with disabilities.

    As a consultant, Lauren has worked locally and nationally researching and developing training and resource materials related to health and wellness, physical activity, disability awareness, accessibility, and community involvement. Lauren has served on numerous advisory committees, boards, and technical review panels related to physical activity, recreation, and disability research.

    Sports and recreation has always been an important part of Lauren's life. As a person with a disability, Lauren has participated in many adaptive recreation events over the past 25 years. She was a member of the 1996 Paralympic Team and Bronze medalist in Equestrian events. She loves riding her horse, handcycling, tennis, swimming and playing outdoors with her two boys.
