James Rimmer  Dr. Rimmer is a Professor in the Department of Disability and Human Development and holds the position of adjunct professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Movement Sciences. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University which is affiliated with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He is the Director of RecTech and the National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (NCPAD). Dr. Rimmer has 25 years of research experience in physical activity for people with disabilities and has authored over 85 refereed journal articles and book chapters on physical activity, health promotion and disability. His recent work as a principal investigator has focused on reduction of obesity and secondary conditions in people with mobility disabilities. Am J Pub Health, 2005;95:2022-2028 -- was cited in this RFA. Dr. Rimmer was recently appointed to the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative on Aging and Longevity, and was one of 30 invited expert researchers to present the available evidence on physical activity and disability at the Institute of Medicine’s Workshop on the Adequacy of Evidence for Physical Activity Guidelines Development (October 23-24, 2006).
