General Description and Goals of the Conference
In year 4, the University of Illinois at Chicago will host the second State of the Science Conference on Exercise and Recreational Technologies for People with Disabilities. This state of the science conference will review progress to date in recreational and exercise physiology technologies and outline a research agenda for the future. The target audience for the conference includes researchers, engineers, recreation and fitness professionals, credentialing and certifying organizations in fitness and recreation, industry representatives from fitness and recreation, and people with disabilities. Over the course of two days, there will be presentations of invited papers and discussions of Center research results and issues. The conference will invite participation by recognized leaders in the field.
The conference will provide a focus for the activities and accomplishments of the RERC to date. It will also provide a forum for assessing the directions of research and development activities within the RERC and more broadly in the field of exercise and recreational technologies for persons with disabilities.
