A core function of Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers is contributing to the preparation of the next generation of researchers, engineers, technicians, rehabilitation professionals, and assistive technology specialists. RecTech affords students a unique opportunity to experience interdisciplinary training in health promotion through physical activity for people with disabilities. The curriculum content for this training addresses current and continuing issues regarding making recreational and exercise environments (i.e., programs, equipment, facilities, training, policy, etc.) more accessible to people with disabilities with an emphasis on the role new and emerging technologies can play in addressing these issues.
